Sierra Prospecters Association is a non-profit, family-oriented group located in the beautiful California Motherlode. We have a current membership of over 50 members. We encourage you to become a member and join us in gold and mineral prospecting on our mining claims. Gold, platinum, quartz crystals, and garnets have been found on the claims. SPA currently has mining access to over 300 acres consisting of five 20-acre and two 100-acre placer mining claims on public land located within the Stanislaus National Forest and one ten-acre placer mining claim on public land located on BLM property. Claims within the National Forest have a defined season for motorized mining and other mining restrictions. The claim on BLM property is open all year round for mining but has restrictions to protect certain historic and prehistoric cultural resources and artifacts. Camping, space for RVs and fishing are also available on or near the claims. This club gives you the opportunity to go on several organized outings during the gold dredging season where you can participate in potluck dinners, enter raffle drawings, learn from other miners, go metal detecting, and socialize. You can also go to these areas on your own. Keep all the gold that you find. There are no guarantees of success in this endeavor, but the hunt for treasure is the real fun.
